It came round quickly, and didn’t last long enough, but the 2007 trip to the Somme was as good as any of the previous years for me. There’s so much to see that I’m sure we’ll be back a few times in the future. We saw most of the major sites, but not all, and the smaller places would need a months to even see them all, never mind have a good look.            Another year, and another method of transport. We drove in Lance’s Espace and got the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk. We were based in a superb gite in the village of Beaucourt-sur-l’Ancre right in the heart of the Somme battlefields.
