The Ypres Memorial, to give it its correct name opened in 1927 and is to the memory of the missing men who died in the area and have no known grave. There are over fifty four thousand men commemorated on it, and the spectacle is truly astounding. The names go from floor to ceiling inside, and cover the alcoves and nooks of the outside.

Its an eerie place, with huge cavernous vaulted ceilings; the scale is over-whelming.
