A memorial tree to the Italy Star Association. The Italy Star was awarded to any man who served on land, in the air over, or the seas around Italy. It's an often overlooked theatre of the second world war, but the men involved were the first to land on mainland Europe; a full year before the Normandy landings, and liberated Rome two days before the Operation Overlord (Normandy's D-Day) landings.
The plaque at the base of the tree reads: "Italy Star Association 1943 - 1945. This tree planted in memory of comrades we left behind. We do remember them."
