In May 2000, an unknown Canadian soldier was exhumed from this plot and handed over to officials in a ceremony held at the Vimy Memorial. The remains were taken back to canada's capital, Ottowa and were placed in the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the foot of the National War Memorial, Confederation Square.
