The main entrance leads to a park with various field guns, naval guns and tanks on show. It’s a superb way to show the exhibits. The main hall is at the end of the path, and is equally impressive. It’s a very large modern building housing all manner of hardware.

The next port of call is the sombre and moving hall commemorating the concentration camp victims and the terrible effect it had on the civilian population of Holland and Europe in general.

The last building on the grounds (well, if you take the same route as we did) looks specifically at the area’s time during the occupation, and the celebration at liberation.

Overall, it is a truly stunning place, and is easily the best museum I’ve visited on our travels.
