La Coupole

A Fieseler Fi 103R Reichenberg rocket.
This was a pilotted version of the infamous V1 Doodlebug rocket and was a desperate measure near the end of the war. It was stressed that it wasn't a suicide weapon as used by their Japanese allies. The cockpit wasn't bolted shut, and the pilot was given a parachute to eject at the last minute. The chances of a successful escape were very slim due to the jet intake being positioned above the cockpit. They never entered active service, despite over a hundred volunteers to pilot them.
This model was made famous by the daring female test pilot Hanna Reitsch portrayed in the film "Operation Crossbow" .
