Faubourg d’Amiens cemetery is right in the heart of Arras, not Amiens as you may guess. As well as the conventional cemetery it has a screen wall with the names of the missing who fell during the Battle of Arras. There are over 34.000 men listed on this huge memorial. Added to this, the grounds also hold the RFC/RAF Memorial to the missing airmen of the war. Over a thosand men are named on this. All told, alomst 40,000 men are commemorated one way or another in this sombre site. |
