A “non-official” journey by me and my brother (Young Joseph) took place in May 2006. FC United of Manchester were playing another fan owned club in Leipzig and our journey would mean staying in Berlin or Leipzig for 3 days. We chose to stay in Leipzig the night of the game, and Berlin the day before and the day after.

I don’t know if are kid is that interested in military history, but he seemed to enjoy the sights of Berlin. We couldn’t get to see everything as we were reliant on public transport and were weighed down with our luggage.

I’ll definitely go back for a more comprehensive visit to the city. It’s a brilliant place. I’ll also find somewhere to stay that isn’t miles out of the centre. For anyone who knows the city, we stayed in Birkenstein outside of the Eastern edges of the city.

We didn’t get to see much of Leipzig apart from the absolutely enormous train station, and our log cabin accomodation. We played 1.FC Lokomotive Leipzig and it ended up 4-4.
