For a few years a group of mates have been visiting a variety of historic battlefields in Belgium, France, Scotland and all places between. In 2004 I went on my first to Normandy which coincided with the 60th anniversary of the invasion making it particularly poignant.

In 2005 we visited primarily the sites of Operation Market Garden. This was the ambitious plan developed by Field Marshall Montgomery to end the war with a daring parachute drop onto and armoured column drive through the towns of Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Arnhem,

2006 came round soon enough and brought with it the successful completion of our trip to Ypres. It saw the full complement of our party take to the road for the first time. The four battles around Ypres have many and varied monuments, and the sheer scale and number of the cemeteries is mind boggling.

October 2007 saw us taking to the road again and visiting the sites of the Somme and 2008 saw us back in Belgium with a visit to the sites of the Ardennes Offensive.
