The local monument, the Salford Pals memorial and in the foreground a memorial bench given to the village by the people of Glasgow to commemorate the men of the Highland Light Infantry who fought on the slopes of the Ancre Valley.
A church to the left of the picture has two plaques to the Salford and Glasgow troops.
