Starring: James caan, Genevieve Bujold, Francis Huster, Jennifer Warren, Susan Tyrrell.
A young Parisienne couple leave France for a new life in America. Tragedy strikes and the woman is left alone with a child. On a collision course, albeit a very slow one, is James Caan. He too is the victim of a tragedy, and seemingly settled with his lot in life.
It’s set in the American West of the 1800s, but is far from the norm for films of this era and setting. It’s a very slow paced love story, of two people given a second chance at true love. The score and cinematography are stunning, and coupled with the excellent performances of the two leads, it all adds up to a truly memorable film.
Don’t watch this expecting lots of gun play or a conventional western. That it most certainly isn’t.
