Philips Park.
Warrant Officer Thomas Heyes holder of Distinguished Flying Medal. This medal was awarded to men who performed "an act or acts of valour, courage or devotion to duty whilst flying in active operations against the enemy".
Thomas Heyes was a pilot, and his son is also buried here. The headstone has one of the most moving inscriptions I've seen on my travels, and really brings home the losses some families had to endure. It reads:
Also baby son Thomas Francis. Born after his father's death. Died age seven months. "Unseen they're near me."
