According to the council, this is in Miles Platting. My guess would be that it was at the borders of Newton Heath, Beswick and Miles Platting but you can't argue with the council. Philips Park cemetery was Manchester's first municipal cemetery when it opened in 1866. There are over 440 war burials from both world wars. We took a good number of pictures of the graves, so if a look up is required just get in touch. The picture shows a screen wall with the names of the missing on and the CWGC Cross of Sacrifice in front of it. Again, we have pictures of the bronze tablets with the names of the fallen on. Unusually, the cross of sacrifice has an inscription on it which reads: "This Cross of Sacrifice is one in design and intention with those which have been set up in France and Belgium and other places throughout the world where our dead of the Great War are laid to rest."
