Director: John Korty

Starring: Jack Lemmon, Genevieve Bujold, James Woods.

Jack Lemmon plays Alex, a bail bondsman. When one of his clients tuns out to be an old flame, his life gets suddenly more complicated than he likes.

The romance seems to be relighting, but with a possible four year sentence hanging over Maritzas head (the gypsy of the title), it appears to be doomed.

This is a strange choice for Jack Lemmon, and nothing like any other film of his Ive seen. Genevieve Bujold is superb as the wild gypsy, and gives one of the most intense performances I’ve seen.

It may not sound it, but its a comedy. Very dark obviously, but nonetheless very funny.

If you want to see Jack Lemmon in a whole new light, and a great film rolled into one, this is for you.
