A lawyer ropes her sister into helping out a client. He’s an illegal immigrant in Canada. A six month visa has expired and he faces torture, prison and possibly death if he’s returned to his South American home country.

It’s a familiar story, with a similar tale told in the more famous Green Card with Andie MacDowell and Gerard Depardieu a year after A Paper Wedding. This telling is much more believable though, and the characters are better explained.

It’s a pity it doesn’t have a wider audience, as it’s a perfect film for a night in
